  • Why did you start teaching?

    My best friend since the 8th grade is blind, and seeing her struggles and accomplishments in school (middle school through college) inspired me to want to teach students with disabilities so they, too, can dream big and reach their individual goals.

  • What advice would you give to prospective students?

    Set high expectations, work hard and never give up, even the smallest goals have big rewards

    "Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead" by Brené Brown

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in education?

    Motivation, commitment and the passion for teaching

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that teachers face today?

    As many educators are working from home due to COVID-19, one of the biggest challenges I see for teachers today is trying to find the balance between family and work.

  • What is the value of this degree?

    Students will have the skills they need to be confident, prepared instructional leaders.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know about you.

    I lived in Colorado for 10 years where I was blessed to serve as an instructional leader at the largest school district on the Western Slope and serve the community as CEO/ED for an advocacy agency.

  • What do you want students to learn in your classes? What is the take-away?

    The ultimate goal for my courses is to have students achieve competency of the learning objectives through targeted instruction. Student will participate in activities that are meaningful and useful for their professional practice.
