  • Why did you start teaching?

    I started teaching in higher education because I love education and want others to love this profession as much as I do. Additionally, I want to be part of the solution in reforming and improving education for our youngest citizens.

    This degree not only enhances educators planning and instructional practices, but it will also challenge educators to be leaders in their schools on curriculum and instruction.

  • What advice would you give to prospective students?

    Be open minded, collaborative, involved, and connected. Be an active member of the learning community.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

    "The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education" by Diane Ravitch

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that teachers face today?

    Working within an audit culture which devalues the expertise of educators in favor of standardizing education

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know.

    I am an Aussie that dislikes hot weather and loves the cold winter snow and ice.

  • What do you want students to learn in your classes? What is the take-away?

    Students should learn to question, reflect, and reimagine not only their own practices, but those of the profession as a whole.
